The style of this piece is very much a classic documentary – interview (historian John Steele Gordon), some illustrative archive and some lovely animated maps. The challenge is condensing a potentially hour long story into under 60 seconds! Working in this style is a joy for me, building on my heritage of working on some of British TV’s great factual and documentary brands – it’s always nice, if rare, when I can bring these two areas of my work – commercials and documentary – together.
